Description
This sheriff's department is a safe haven for persons wishing to legally surrender physical custody of their infant. A parent or other person having lawful custody of an infant less than 60 days old may leave the infant in the hands of staff. A parent will not be prosecuted for leaving their newborn at a safe haven if they follow the laws, assuming the child is under 45 days old and shows no signs of abuse or neglect.
