Description

The Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF): Federally funded program dedicated to assisting Illinois homeowners who are at risk of default, foreclosure, or displacement as a result of financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible ILHAF program applications may apply for up to $60,000 of assistance to eliminate or reduce past-due mortgage and property tax payments.

Eligibility

Must meet all of the following eligibility requirements to participate in the program: - Own a property in Illinois used as your primary residence. - The property must be a 1-4 unit building, condo, townhouse, manufactured or mobile home. - Applicants must have a mortgage on the property that is delinquent at least 30 days. - For applicants without a mortgage, you can still apply for property tax assistance if your taxes are past due. - Household income must be below 150% of your county area median income, can be viewed here: https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/il/il2021/select_Geography_haf.odn. - Have experienced a COVID-19 related hardship, meaning a decrease of income or increase in costs, that began, continued or worsened during the pandemic.

Description

Illinois Court-Based Rental Assistance Program (CBRAP): provides funding to Illinois tenants and landlords across the state (outside of Cook County) who have pending cases in eviction court. The program is only available to litigants in eviction court. Applicants may qualify for up to $25,000 in emergency rental payments that can include up to 15 months of past-due rent and 3 months of future rent payments to prevent eviction.

-You are in a court eviction proceeding due to nonpayment. -You have experienced financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. -Proof of citizenship is not required. Rental assistance is not a “public charge” benefit. -Your household income is at or below 80% of the area median income, adjusted for household size. (See the income limits for your county on the website www.illinoishousinghelp.org/cbrap.) You rent/ let your home in Illinois.
