St. Clair County Veterans Assistance Commission (SCCVAC) is a county agency assisting veterans in several facets of life, including temporary financial assistance. Services include Food Vouchers, Rent Payment Assistance, Electric Service Payment Assistance, Gas Service Payment Assistance and Burial/Cremation Expense Assistance.

Description

Provides financial assistance to honorably discharged veterans and their families who have lost a loved one pay for the funeral and/or the cremation. Individual who passed, must be have been a honorably discharged veteran or widow.

Hours

Mon-Fri - 9:00am to 12:00pm (Noon) and 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Required Documents

- Form DD 214 indicating Honorable Discharge - Photo ID - Birth Certificate - Social Security Card - Death Certificate (In the case of a widow) - Proof of Income for last 30 days

Eligibility

- Age 21 years and older - Must be honorably discharged veteran or widow
