Description
Awards grants to local organizations enabling the establishment of AmeriCorps and other National Service programs. Operating as a point organization for promoting and recognizing volunteers and by supporting quality service projects. Oversees the AmeriCorps program. Since 1994, more than 250,000 men and women have served in AmeriCorps, providing needed assistance to millions of Americans through projects ranging from tutoring, youth mentoring, public safety, housing rehabilitation, health care, environmental issues, and disaster relief.
