Restorative justice programs that offer classes or groups that are designed to help people who have a substance use disorder accept responsibility for their behavior, understand the impact of their drug or alcohol addiction on victims, including their families and friends, and commit to healing. Groups may involve personal presentations by victims, related or unrelated to the case, as well as families and friends, who describe how the person's substance use has affected their lives; they may also welcome participants even when a crime wasn't committed.
